It was really, really cold...luckily we have these wonderful 'Ranch coats' that Aunt Sue gave the kids for Christmas....and who knew...! ? Almost everyone else was wearing a version of this coat....the vets, the ranchers, the shearers.... Here they are, drinking hot cocoa.....
Here, they are learning how to measure the loin....
They taught them what to look for when judging a lamb, and gave them these cards...
here is Remy, very seriously judging.....
they learned about the sheep's digestive system.....
...and they got to touch (and smell) the contents of all four chambers....

Then they got a lesson in shearing...
and got to play with the wool....
I played with this cool niddy noddy...
and we even got souvenirs, Maura needle felted the little lamb at the clinic, and I bought the handmade needles as a gift for her (to try and get her to knit again...)
and this wonderful ball of roving is for me to wet felt a pair of mittens...!

please explain what a "Niddy Noddy" is, thank you...
ReplyDeleteHi there! A niddy noddy is a wooden tool that you can use to make skeins of yarn after you spin it...It makes the long skeins you can find at yarn stores, usually wool, usually expensive....I think it is really cool and, of course, now I want one : )
